Indoor track athletes impress at MSTCA meet
By Mike BergerIn what may be a precursor of positive things to come for several CHS indoor track athletes, the Bulldogs turned in an impressive performance at the MSTCA Holiday Challenge held last Wednesday at the New Balance track facility in Boston.
Head coach Anna Amico said the MSTCA meet is an elite event featuring some of the top indoor track athletes from all over New England. The meet also featured athletes from New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio and other states.
Season-best times were posted by Chloe Dubuisson in the 300 meters (43.22 seconds, tops in the Hockomock League as of last weekend); Lexi Piazza in the 600m (1:52.27); Dan Krasylynkov in the 300m (38.63); and the girls 4×400 relay of Piazza, Nora Giannacopoulos, Dubuisson and Lianna Camille, who bested their previous top time by 12 seconds (4:21.35).
Other CHS track team members competing in the meet included Katie Oliver (60m hurdles, triple jump, long jump); the girls 4×200 relay of Kate Sheil, Sally Hoban, Kenzie Bennett and Grace Martinek; the boys 4×400 relay of Mo Arugollu, Parker Allen, Luke Darling and Krasylnykov; and Arugollu in the long jump.
The next meet is Saturday, January 6, with the freshmen and sophomores due to compete in the MSTCA Small Schools Meet. The next varsity meet is a double dual meet versus Mansfield and Stoughton scheduled for January 11.
