Camarra, Peter A.

By

Peter A. Camarra, 78, a lifelong resident of Canton, died peacefully and surrounded by his family on January 29, 2024.

Peter was an avid Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots fan and especially liked watching them win. He enjoyed movie nights and game nights with the kids and sitting by the pool being the “lifeguard.” He always enjoyed a great conversation and a really good debate. Peter had a talent for music. He liked listening to 50s rock, big bands, and playing the saxophone. Peter was in the marching band all through high school and college. In his college days he had a rock band, The 6 Pak, and had many great stories about performing with his bandmates. Peter was a proud co-creator of the Canton Football Association (CFA) and a longtime coach — this led to lots of planning meetings, dinners, practices, games, championships, and lifelong friendships.

Peter worked as a real estate broker and insurance broker for Camber Real Estate, Inc. and Camber Insurance Agency, Inc. in Canton. He also worked as an accountant at his firm Tarra Tax and Appraisal, Inc. in Canton for over 40 years and was an instructor at Lee Institute School of Real Estate.

Peter was a graduate of St. John’s School, Canton High School, and Boston College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business. He was a former district manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance. He was a past president of the Canton Rotary Club and a former longtime member of the Sons of Italy. He proudly served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Peter was the loving father of Kristin and Benjamin Camarra of Canton. Brother of Anthony P. Camarra and his wife, Regina, of Canton. He was the proud uncle of Anthony, Michael, Jennifer, and Rachel (Camarra). Proud great-uncle of Shane, Rhys, Genevieve, Phineas, Isabella, Tristan, Violet, and Annabelle.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday morning in St. John’s Catholic Church (St. Oscar Romero) in Canton, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Donations may be made in Peter’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate, or to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital at bidmc.org/giving. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, www.roache-pushard.com.
