Orchard Cove, Clarke Schools visit Dunkin’ HQ
By Canton CitizenResidents from Orchard Cove recently joined students and staff from the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech for a lively morning of donut decorating with “Chef Josh” and “Donut Dan” at Dunkin’ headquarters in Canton.
“What a wonderful day!” exclaimed Orchard Cove resident Kim Hirsch. “The Clarke students are such sweet kids. They were just lovely: seated, focused, and happy.”
Hirsch’s husband, Carl, agreed, saying, “I just loved it. It was like pure joy for them and for us.”
After decorating the donuts with maple, chocolate and strawberry frosting and garnishing them with sprinkles and cookie crumbles, everyone enjoyed samples of Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavors like Peanut Butter Blossom, Cookie Monster, and Very Berry Strawberry.
Orchard Cove resident Fred Waldman said the food was “absolutely delicious.” He also enjoyed visiting with the Clarke students, who put on a winter-themed concert at Orchard Cove earlier this year.
Resident Elsie Cohen praised the students for their efforts in making the donuts. “I liked their excitement and their amazing ability,” she said. “They were so busy, and the end product, a half-dozen donuts that they decorated, looked great and is going home to their families.”
Founded in 1867, the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech teaches children who are deaf or hard of hearing to listen and talk, preparing them for success in mainstream schools and the wider world. The school operates five locations throughout the East Coast, including Clarke Boston, which is located in Canton off Route 138.
