Miller, Thomas H.
By Canton CitizenThomas H. Miller, Jr. of Canton, formerly of Milton and South Boston, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, after courageously battling lengthy illnesses.
Tom was born on December 20, 1940, and raised in South Boston, being one of six children of the late Thomas H. and Florence (Grafton) Miller. For 32 years Tom was an officer for the Boston Police Department, honorably retiring as a detective-sergeant. He was past president of the Emerald Society of the Boston Police and for many years was very active in their pursuits.
Devoted husband of Marilynn (Hurley) Miller, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. He was the loving father of five children: Thomas V. Miller (Sandra) of Spring Hill, FL, Theresa Provost (Daniel) and Robert Miller (Lynette) of Whitman, and William Miller and James Miller of Rockland. He is survived by his brothers Edward Miller (Elaine) of Abington and William Miller (Nancy deceased) of Needham. Tom was predeceased by siblings Marilyn Basler, Richard Miller and Michael Miller. Tom was the proudest grandfather of Joshua, Ashley, Kailee, Amanda, Richard and Nicole and great-grandfather of Kason and Koryn, who brought extensive joy. He is survived by the mother of his children, Rose Miller. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Tom enjoyed traveling locally and abroad, spending time with his extensive family, many friends, and the joys and trials of golf.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation at the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, on Friday, April 12, from 4-8 p.m.
Interment will be private at the National Cemetery in Bourne. Donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Cops for Kids with Cancer at copsforkidswithcancer.org.
