Former Bulldog competes at roller hockey nationals
By Jay TurnerIt was another winter to remember for Canton’s Colby Ciffolillo and his Endicott College roller hockey teammates, who again found themselves in the thick of a title chase with another strong showing at last month’s National Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships.
Coming off back-to-back trips to the national semifinals, the Gulls would again make it to the knockout stage this year before meeting their match against Michigan State in a hard-fought, 4-2 loss in the Division II quarterfinals in Auburn, Maine. Prior to being eliminated, Endicott scored wins against Cal Poly and UMass Amherst and had close losses to both Quinnipiac and Boston University during pool play.
Ciffolillo, a senior forward, appeared in all but one game for the Gulls this season and finished second on the team with 26 total points (12 goals, 14 assists). He was Endicott’s points leader during the 2022-23 season and ranked fourth on the team during the winter of 2021-22. (His freshman season was canceled due to COVID-19.)
All told, Ciffolillo skated in 46 of Endicott’s 50 games over the past three years while racking up 46 goals and 51 assists — an average of more than two points per contest. In 26 career playoff games, the former Bulldog had 36 points while guiding his team to two national final fours and one top-eight finish. He also competed this past season in the first-ever Roller Beanpot, scoring in both games of the tournament and nearly willing the Gulls to a victory with a late goal in the title game against Northeastern.
A 2020 Canton High School graduate, Ciffolillo won two state titles as a member of the varsity boys hockey team and also excelled in soccer, serving as a team captain his senior year while garnering an All-Hockomock honorable mention.
