Happnie, Mary Jane

By

Mary Jane (Curtis) Happnie, 69, of Florida, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, holding the hand of her beloved husband of 31 years, David J. Happnie.

Affectionately known as “MJ,” Mary Jane was a loving mother to her daughter Anna (Brandon) Phillips of California and a devoted grandmother to her cherished grandsons: Hayden, Conor, and Dylan.

Born in Canton to the late Clinton M. and Kathleen J. (Costello) Curtis, MJ’s siblings include Kenneth (Phyllis) of Easton, Nancy (Anthony) Galvin of California, Suzanne (Paul) McGoldrick of Florida, Barbara (Butch) Brady of Quincy, and William (Janis) of Marshfield, and was predeceased by her siblings David and Dianne Curtis. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Mary Jane graduated from Canton High School before embarking on a successful career in administration at Plymouth Rubber Company, while also making the best pizzas weekly as a second job at “Big D’s” for decades.

In her later years, Mary Jane resided in Cape Coral, Florida, finding solace and happiness in retirement with David and their dog in their beautiful home. She cherished the time spent with her sister Suzanne and her late husband, Paul, once they moved nearby. She is missed every day.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Jane Happnie will be held at St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canton on June 21 at 10 a.m. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
