Canton High girls tracksters set new school heptathlon record

Canton High’s star-studded trio of Chloe Dubuisson, Katie Oliver, and Sally Hoban are the new school record holders in the heptathlon, smashing the previous school record by over 1,000 points and finishing fourth overall as a team in what head coach Anna Amico called a “very deep field of talented teams and athletes” at the MSTCA South Heptathlon.
The Canton contingent combined for 9,470 total points. Amico said all three Bulldog athletes shined at the two-day meet, showcasing their strength across seven different events. It marked the second record for this trio as they had previously set the team pentathlon record during the past indoor season.
It also marks the conclusion of a memorable high school track career for Oliver, who captured the gold medal in both the long jump and triple jump with a pair of personal-best distances at this year’s MIAA Division 4 Championships. She also took fourth as part of the 4×100 relay and went on to place seventh in the triple jump at the MIAA Meet of Champions.
Dubuisson, a member of the Class of 2025, also earned an invite to the Meet of Champions and finished 10th in the state in the 400-meter hurdles. One week earlier at the D4 meet, Dubuisson came within a fraction of a second of breaking the school record in the same event and placed second overall, while also powering the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams to top-10 finishes.
Hoban, also a junior and competing in her first season of outdoor track, picked up two medals of her own at the divisional meet with a seventh-place finish in the javelin and an eight-place finish in the pentathlon. Hoban also came close in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 31 feet, three inches.
