Robbins, Harvey B.

By

Harvey Burton Robbins passed away peacefully in his home in Foxboro on May 24, 2024. Born December 3, 1940, the son of the late Bernie and Anne Rose (Chitel) Robbins, he was a graduate of Boston University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in journalism and then his master’s in counseling.

He is survived by his children, Scott, Moses and his wife, Meridith, and Lori Robbins-Dickson and her husband, Kenneth, and his children’s mother, Joanne Robbins. Also survived by his grandchildren, Chelsea and her husband, Asher, Jake, Ben, Adriana, Trenten, Jamison, Jaxson and LiliAnne; his great-grandchildren, Keegan and Ezra; his life partner, Brenda Sue; his dearest friends Leo Waters, Thelma Rando, Tobby Wheeler, and Dov and Judy Goldstein; and many near and dear friends that he has treasured and shared wonderful memories with over his lifetime.

Harvey was an incredible journalist for the Patriot Ledger, covering the Boston Celtics from 1967-77. He was passionately involved with the Friends of Prowse Farm, which waged a 10-year battle to defeat the rezoning of the property, ensuring public access to the farm and educating the public about Mass. agriculture and history.

In 1993, the Friends prevailed by preserving 44 acres of Prowse Farm, and through a mutually beneficial agreement with Meditech, the Friends continue to honor the property with public access for recreational/educational programs and events.

In addition to his work with the Friends, Harvey was the founder and producer of the Doo Wop Hall of Fame of America, and he worked as an invaluable manager for the famous burlesque dancer Tempest Storm out of Las Vegas. He loved to travel, especially to Bermuda, and he went on over 100 cruises all over the world. He also loved his horses, Jean and Skipper.

Anyone who knew Harvey was profoundly inspired by his kind heart, life experiences, and love of animals, but particularly his ability to keep the memories alive of loved ones and the wonderful music of the 1950s in our ears and hearts forever. His passing is a great loss to us all and he will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

A funeral service was held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park. Donations may be made to: The Friends of Prowse Farm, 5 Blue Hill River Rd., Canton, MA 02021, or to Tufts Veterinary School Hospital for Large Animals, 53 Willard St., North Grafton, MA 01536.
