Mary was a graduate of Saint Anselm College, Class of 1973, with a BA in political science and obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Columbia University. She spent her early career in health care operations at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt in New York City and was part of a team that developed the first clinics that cared for AIDS patients in New York.

In addition, Mary spent many years volunteering in South America for the nonprofit organization Amigos, organizing and setting up vaccination clinics in remote areas. She was passionate about delivering health care to those less fortunate and took every opportunity to contribute to improving the lives of others.

Mary moved back to Ireland in 2000 and worked for the Irish Health Service until retirement.

A requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Finbarr’s Church in Bantry, Co. Cork, Ireland, and burial was in the family plot at The Abbey. Donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at michaeljfox.org.
