Annual ‘Scarecrow Stroll’ to benefit food pantry
By Canton CitizenCanton Care, founded by Marilyn & Company and supported by the Canton Select Board, is proud to present the third annual Scarecrow Stroll and Fundraiser to benefit the Canton Helpline Food Pantry.
In exchange for a donation of $100, participating businesses and organizations will be able to decorate a lamppost in Canton Center with their unique “scarecrow” creation, which will remain in place for the entire month of October. Residents are welcome to check out the displays at any point next month and are also encouraged to vote for their favorite by clicking here. The winner of Canton’s favorite display will be announced on October 31. Donations to the food pantry are also welcome by visiting cantonmahelpline.org/food-pantry (write “Scarecrow Stroll” in the donation line).
For the Scarecrow Stroll, participating businesses are encouraged to be creative with their scarecrows, which can be decorated in any family-friendly manner or tie into a seasonal theme such as Halloween or Oktoberfest.
The stroll itself will take place throughout the day on Saturday, October 26. The scarecrows will also be up for the Parks & Recreation Department’s annual Halloween Parade, which departs at 1 p.m. from the Bank of Canton branch at 557 Washington Street on Sunday, October 27. Costumed parade goers will march to Canton High School, where they will enjoy a festive celebration featuring a ‘Trunk or Treat’ event, pony rides, farm animals, music by DJ Mike Pride, goodie bags, pumpkin painting and more. All activities are free, but guests are asked to register in advance at cantonma.myrec.com.
