Ferrini, Robin

By

Robin Ferrini, 64, passed away quietly in her sleep in the early hours of October 22 in her home in Canton. Having battled ovarian cancer for three-and-a-half years, her condition recently took a turn for the worse and her death was unexpectedly sudden.

Robin grew up in Brockton — and always had a special place in her heart for the City of Champions.

She graduated from Bridgewater State University with a degree in psychology, and then used that expertise to lead a successful 40-plus-year career in advertising and marketing, working in TV and direct mail.

Thirty-five years ago she met a client, Bernie Mendillo, and they began to date and eventually were married, eloping to Rome. Robin and Bernie have two children, Benjamin and Bella. Robin has also had a long and loving relationship with her two stepchildren: Hollie and her husband, Joe, and Christopher and his wife, Irina.

Robin is also survived by her parents, Joe and Jackie Ferrini, her sister Cindy and her husband, Mike, her brother Joey and his wife, Gina, and her brother David and his wife, Deana.

She has many nieces and nephews and five grandchildren. But, never wanting to be called “Grandma,” she convinced the children to address her as “Robin A. Ferrini.”

Robin was known everywhere for her good taste, her flair for style, her witty conversations, and her love of music, most notably Frank Sinatra. She was the paragon of hospitality, both at home and at other people’s events. Most of all, what will be greatly missed was her warm character and personality.

Robin loved her huge extended family, ranging from blood relatives to people she’d meet in the check-out lane in Wegmans. At the drop of a hat, she’d solve their problems, find them jobs, and bake them a lemon cake.

She had many lifelong friends going back to first grade, and she had a very wide circle of friends from Canton and from her career.

She lived life as hard as she could and was never content to settle.

A celebration reception will be held for Robin’s family and friends in the next few weeks. Please check dockrayandthomasfuneralhome.com for details.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or to WGBH radio.
