Town clerk announces 2025 election nomination deadlines
By Canton CitizenTown Clerk Tracy Kenney has announced that nomination papers for the April 8, 2025 annual town election will be available in the Town Clerk’s office beginning on Tuesday, January 7, at 8 a.m. The deadline to obtain nomination papers is Friday, February 14, at 1 p.m.
Those seeking office in the election must be 18 years of age or older and be a registered voter in the town of Canton. Each candidate shall file with the town clerk, prior to obtaining blank nomination papers, a statement containing the individual’s name and address and the town office for which the individual intends to be a candidate. Candidates must obtain the signatures of at least 50 registered voters in the town of Canton. The deadline to file completed nomination papers with the Board of Registrars is Tuesday, February 18, at 7 p.m.
The offices that will appear on the ballot are as follows:
Select Board: One 3-year term
Board of Assessors: One 3-year term
Board of Health: One 3-year term
School Committee: Two 3-year terms
School Committee: One 1-year term (to fill a vacancy)
Planning Board: One 5-year term
Trustees of Public Library: Three 3-year terms
