Ryder announces candidacy for School Committee

I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for a three-year term on the School Committee in the upcoming April 8 election.
I grew up in Sharon and moved to Canton in 2012. As a parent of three young children, including a fourth grader and a first grader at the Hansen, I am deeply committed to supporting the success of Canton’s public schools.
For the past 15 years, I have worked at JSI, a public health organization, where I lead the implementation and evaluation of community and school-based health initiatives. My work emphasizes collaboration, equity, and wellbeing, values I aim to bring to the School Committee.
As co-founder of the Canton Farmers Market, I have had the opportunity to engage with school stakeholders, students and families, and many others, and am proud of how the market brings the community together.
I have served in other volunteer capacities, including on the district’s School Wellness Advisory Committee since 2012, as a member of the St. Gerard’s Reuse Committee, as a board member for the Canton Helpline, and a board member for the Learning Circle Preschool. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from UMass Amherst and my master’s degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
I am passionate about fostering a whole-child approach that prioritizes students’ academic, emotional, and physical well-being, while strengthening family and community engagement through open communication and collaborative decision-making.
I believe my professional expertise and community leadership will benefit the School Committee and the broader Canton community, and I look forward to earning your support in the upcoming election.
