With parents, friends, and fellow teammates cheering loudly, the CHS gymnastics team celebrated Senior Night in style on Saturday with a hard-fought win over division rival Foxborough at the Metro South Gymnastics Center on Revere Street.
It was the team’s final home meet of the season and it showcased the talents of the senior class.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior Jayda Proffitt, who competed in the all-around and excelled in all four events, placing first on both the vault (9.0) and bars (8.6) while taking second on beam (8.35) and floor exercise (8.4). Fellow senior Ava Klidas also represented Canton in the all-around competition and scored a pair of fifth-place finishes on vault (8.0) and bars (7.8).
Senior captain Mia Murphy also competed in all four events and placed third on beam with a score of 7.95, while senior captain James Cordeiro competed on vault and beam, placing fourth in the former event with an 8.15. Rounding out the senior class was Ceylin Uysal-Post, who turned in solid performances on floor and beam.
“It has been a great season so far, and the team just keeps improving with each meet, showing their strength, determination and commitment to increase their overall skill level,” said head coach Sean Reardon.
With the victory over the Warriors, Canton improved to 3-4 on the season with one more regular season meet to go on Saturday, February 1, against King Philip at Arnolds Gymnastics Academy in Mansfield.
