Twohig, Mary C.
By Canton CitizenMary Colette Twohig, 92, formerly of Sandwich and Canton, died January 29, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham.
Colette retired in 1995 after starting her career as a teacher in the mid-1950s in Long Beach, California, and then Boston. Colette took a break from teaching to have children and later returned, first as a substitute for the Canton Public Schools, and then as a second-grade teacher at St. John the Evangelist School in Canton.
She was predeceased in 2011 by her beloved husband of 52 years, Edward L. Twohig Jr., a retired Boston Police detective. Loving mother of Susan Twohig of Sandwich, the late Ann Marie Twohig, Edward Twohig III of Essex, Vermont, and Janet Frongillo and her husband, Richard, of Bedford, New Hampshire. Proud grandmother of Rachel Tripp and John, Thomas and William Frongillo.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Oscar Romero Catholic Church (formerly St. John the Evangelist). Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Donations in Colette’s memory may be made to Boston Medical Center, 1 Boston Medical Center Pl., Boston, MA 02118 with special thanks for the care given by Dr. Charles Tifft.
