David Elliot MacKeen passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 6, 2025.

David was born in Milton on November 19, 1935, to Claude and Ethel (Chittick). He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Stoddard), of 65-plus years and his brother Donald. He is survived by his two children, David E. Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Boxford, and Debra J. Hohmann and her husband, Edmund “Ted” Hohmann, of Kingston. “Bumpa” is also survived by his four grandchildren, Kate Elizabeth MacKeen, Brooke Jane Hohmann, Brenna Reilly Hohmann, and Ryan David MacKeen.

David grew up in Hyde Park and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, joining at 17 years old. He took courses at BU and was employed with IBM for over 40 years. He served with Shirley as a counselor for the Senior Youth Fellowship at the Hyde Park Methodist Church from 1958-1964. He donated his time to the Ponkapoag Pony Club in Milton and Prowse Farm in Canton. David retired and moved with Shirley to Plymouth in 2004.

David was a dedicated husband, an amazing dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, teammate, and friend. He was selfless, kind and would always step up for those in need. Humble and unassuming, he will be greatly missed; he leaves a legacy of love and generosity.
