Mail-in ballot reminder for April town election
By GuestDear Editor:
Approximately half of all Canton votes cast in the November 2024 presidential election were mail-in ballots. Many voters don’t know that if you filed an application for mail-in ballots at any time during 2024, it was only good for elections in 2024!
And unlike in 2024, voters will not automatically receive an application for a mail-in ballot from the Massachusetts Secretary of State in 2025 (or any odd-numbered year).
If you do want to vote by mail this year, you first have to obtain and file an application for a mail-in ballot. The application is available in the Canton Town Clerk’s office and must be completed and returned by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1.
Or you can complete the quick and easy online application available on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sec.state.ma.us/MailInRequestWeb/MailInBallot.aspx.
The mail-in ballots themselves must be completed and returned by the close of polls on Election Day, Tuesday, April 8. For more information about voting in the upcoming town election, contact the Town Clerk’s office at 781-821-5013.
Sincerely,
