By Canton CitizenSusan E. Walker passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on October 10, 1948, in Boston, she was the loving daughter of Russell and Jean King. Susan’s life was one of creativity and dedication to her family.
Raised in Hyde Park, Susan attended Hyde Park High School where she developed a love for the arts that would shape her life. Her creative journey led her to the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts, where she honed her skills and graduated with a sense of purpose and a drive to share beauty with the world.
After her graduation, Susan embarked on a fulfilling and adventurous career that began as a travel agent, which enabled her to explore the globe. She delighted in planning trips for others, working at various locations in Boston, Newton, and Dedham, ensuring that her clients experienced the wonders of travel just as she did. Following a lengthy career in the travel industry, her love for the arts ultimately led her to a position at Connors Framing in Norwood, where she designed and preserved a wide range of works for many to enjoy.
Susan was the beloved wife of Lawrence A. Walker, with whom she shared countless memories and a life full of love. She was a devoted mother to Brian and Craig Walker, both of Canton. Susan’s role as a grandmother to Bryce Walker brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with him. Her love extended to her sister, Nancy Clegg of Dedham, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond and countless cherished memories, as well as her nieces, Katie, Rebecca, Jessica and Tara.
Susan E. Walker will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a guiding light to all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say farewell to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that her journey continues in a place of peace and beauty, much like the life she led here with us.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, on Saturday, February 22, from 2-4 p.m. There will be a brief funeral service at the funeral home at 4 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 5 p.m. at the Ponkapoag Civic, 17 Greenbriar Road, Canton.
