John Connolly’s track record speaks for itself
By GuestDear Editor:
To the good people of Canton, as we approach yet another town election, I ask you who over the past 43 years has done more for Canton, has been more dedicated or made a more lasting impact to the success of our beautiful town than John Connolly? Respectfully, I ask you to present a more qualified individual, or anyone for that matter, who has the resume or the list of accomplishments of Mr. Connolly.
Rather than trying to run off a good man who has dedicated his entire life to our community and say that you want change, think about what Mr. Connolly has done for us all? There hasn’t been a more skilled negotiator or an individual who’s played a bigger role in our community. Say what you want to say, but you simply cannot silence or ignore his impressive resume and long list of achievements for Canton.
Here’s just a few: the old Elliot School converted into a modern police station or Trillium Brewery … you can thank Mr. Connolly for helping them find and set up the new location we all enjoy today. The Irish Cultural Centre, where our children play on its fields and we all enjoy the 4th of July fireworks … we can thank him for helping get that. Major corporations and significant tax revenue contributors such as Topgolf, Reebok and Dunkin Brands were brought to Canton by Mr. Connolly. The beautiful new skating rink, and most recently the approval to build a new Galvin Middle School, all made possible by who? Yes, that’s right, John Connolly.
As a very humble man, he would say that he had others who helped him along the way achieve various successes for the town. While he has had great partnerships, and others have contributed as well, he is a true leader who gets things done. Not just my words, but indisputable proven fact as his record shows.
Canton, in terms of fiscal health, places in the top 10 percent of cities and towns in the commonwealth. Moody’s ranks our beautiful town at the very best of the best at AAA+ credit rating. That means we have access to the capital we need to build a brand-new middle school at the very lowest interest rates available.
For potential homebuyers, Canton was recently recognized as the most desirable town south of Boston ahead of second choice Scituate.
These are not indications that we need a change in leadership. These are credible and measurable metrics based on hard facts, not unsubstantiated feelings.
Our tax base consists of a strong mix of commercial and residential properties — a virtual clinic for other towns on how a town should be managed. That doesn’t just happen; it’s been worked on and cultivated to where it is today. The one constant in that steady growth has been John Connolly.
Aren’t you, the voters, tired of all the baseless and never substantiated claims that we need new leadership? It’s always coming from the same group of disruptive malcontents, all feelings but never any facts. We want change?
Protect your family, your children’s education, your home, your community. Keep Canton Great.
