Overton, Leone J.
By Canton CitizenIn loving memory of Leone Josephine Overton (1942-2025), “Lou/Leony/Nana,” a devoted wife, mother, nana, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on April 18, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, Leone brought joy to everyone around her with her warm smile and kind heart.
Leone dedicated her life to caring for her loved ones, spending over 58 years as a loving wife to her husband, John, and raising and caring for her three children, Michelle, John and Matt, four grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Brady and Danny, and many grand-pets. She was known for her compassion, patience, and love. She was an avid tennis player and golfer and enjoyed spending her time listening to her favorite singer, Tony Bennett.
She is predeceased by her parents, Carmel and Arthur Pike, and her sisters Sylvia Beaton and Alma Cheney. She is survived by her beloved husband, John; children Michelle, Matt, and John and his wife, Christine; her grandchildren Josh, Jacob, Brady and Danny; her sister Carolyn Godfrey; brother Arthur Pike; and many nephews, nieces and friends. She will be remembered for her selflessness and unwavering love and support for her family. Many would aptly describe her as the “Worried Warrior!” And she will always be remembered for saying all she wanted is for “everyone to be happy.”
Wake services will be held at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, on Friday, April 25, from 4-7 p.m. with a funeral service in remembrance of Leone’s life on Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canton.
