Bowen, Edith M.

Edith Marie (McDermott) Bowen, 84, of West Yarmouth, formerly of Canton, passed away peacefully on April 12 at her home surrounded by her family.

Edie was the beloved wife of 64 years to William R. Bowen, Sr. Dear daughter of the late Grace (Simpson) and Francis McDermott. She was the loving sister to all of her late siblings: Lorraine McDermott, Mary Coffey, Robert McDermott, Mildred Clarke, Grace McDermott, Frances McDermott, James McDermott, Florence Leary, and John McDermott.

She is also survived by her children Diane Bowen McGuire of NH, Judy Bowen of West Yarmouth, William Bowen, Jr. of South Yarmouth, Mae-beth Robbins and her husband, George Robbins Jr., of Stoughton, and David Bowen of Plymouth. She was the beloved grandmother of seven (Shannon, TJ, Caitlin, Kara, George, Kylie, and Andrew) and the adored great-grandmother of 10.

In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Edie enjoyed crocheting, winning at cribbage, and was proud of her Irish heritage. She was a dedicated lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Edie will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday in St. Oscar Romero Catholic Church (formerly St. John’s), Canton. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, www.roache-pushard.com.
