Lavoie, Patricia A.

Patricia A. Lavoie, of Abington, formerly of Somerset, affectionately known as Pat, passed away peacefully on October 13 in Braintree. Born and raised in Fall River, she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and faith-filled spirit touched all who knew her.

Pat was the beloved wife of the late Arnold R. Lavoie, with whom she shared 50 cherished years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Russell M. Lavoie and his wife, Maryann, of Orleans, and Jeffrey P. Lavoie and his wife, Christine, of Canton. Known for her loving nature, Pat cherished the role of grandmother to Jennifer Lavoie of NYC and Eric Lavoie of Charlestown and Matthew Lavoie of Charleston, SC, and Michael, Christopher and Katelyn Lavoie, all of Canton. She was predeceased by her brother, the late Mathew Przystac.

Pat’s educational journey began in the Fall River schools, followed by her attendance at St. Anne’s Hospital School of Nursing in Fall River. This set the foundation for her long and fulfilling career as a registered nurse. Pat dedicated many years of service at St. Anne’s Hospital before transitioning to the Somerset/Swansea Walk-in Center, where she continued to provide care until her retirement. Her commitment to her profession was evident in her compassionate care for her patients, reflecting her kind and loving nature.

A woman of deep faith, Pat was a devoted member of St. Gerard’s Church in Canton for many years. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and comfort. In addition to her commitment to her church, Pat had a passion for cooking and enjoyed spending her free time in the kitchen, creating meals that brought family and friends together.

However, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She took great pride in their educational achievements, believing firmly in the importance of a good education. Pat’s love for her family was evident in the time she spent with them, whether it was helping with homework, attending school events, or simply enjoying their company.

Pat’s loving and kind nature, combined with her deep faith, made her a beacon of light in the lives of those she touched. She is remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her steadfast faith, and her dedication to her profession. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, reminding them of a life lived with love, kindness, and faith.

In conclusion, Patricia A. Lavoie was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and faith. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those she left behind.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Church in Canton. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Friday prior to the Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to Norwell Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, 120 Longwater Dr., Norwell, MA 02061.
