News Notes: Police search for carjacking suspects
By Mike BergerCanton police officers joined a search for three armed suspects near the Blue Hills reservation in Milton and Canton last Wednesday following a reported carjacking that took place one day earlier in Randolph. The victim reported he had been carjacked by three people, one armed with a gun and another with a knife. The vehicle was later spotted on North Street in Randolph, and Randolph police officers initiated a pursuit but gave way when the driver continued into Milton. One suspect was captured, and another was taken into custody with help from a K-9 team. As of last week, the third suspect remained at large. There was a heavy police presence near the Blue Hills Ski Area while the search was underway. Canton police assisted with search efforts near the intersection of Route 138 and Green Street.
Police solve attempted B&E at Bill’s Auto
Police plan to summon Shawn Michael Broxton, 45, of Dorchester, to court to face charges of attempting to commit a crime and malicious destruction of property under $1,200 in connection with a break-in attempt earlier last month at Bill’s Auto Repair Shop on Neponset Street. Deputy Police Chief Patty Sherrill said video footage had captured a male subject attempting to break into the front door with the use of a crowbar. During one of the attempts, Sherrill said the suspect slipped and fell headfirst through the glass door, triggering the alarm. The suspect then fled from the property. Sherrill said Det. Kevin Albert, assisted by Det. Will Theodore, was able to gather video footage from neighboring businesses, which helped him to identify and charge the suspect.

The board also voted to spend $90,000 from the Reservoir Pond Mitigation Account to complete the restroom project at the Paul Revere Heritage Site. Town Administrator Charles Doody said the project experienced cost overruns related to the foundation and utility connections. The bathrooms are due to come online this spring.
