By

Canton police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred on Arboretum Way on Sunday afternoon, October 6.

The suspect is 22-year-old Seaqwan Cherduville of Webster. Cherduville was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault to murder, and discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

The victim, a 25-year-old male, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was given a blood transfusion by CFD paramedics while en route to Boston Medical Center — a potentially lifesaving measure given the severity of the injury.

Police Chief Helena Rafferty said the incident was not a random event, noting that the alleged shooter is believed to be the brother of the victim’s ex-girlfriend. Rafferty said Tuesday that the victim was recuperating from his wounds.
