2025 Annual Town Meeting warrant now open

The 2025 Annual Town Meeting warrant opened December 12 for all zoning and non-zoning articles and will close on Friday, January 3, at 12 noon. Citizen-sponsored articles must first be first presented to the Town Clerk’s office for signature verification before being delivered to the Select Board’s office at Canton Town Hall. Town meeting will commence on Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the Canton High School auditorium.

Foxboro man charged with assaulting public employee

Police plan to summon a Foxboro man for allegedly assaulting a public employee during a disturbance at the Canton Public Library on Tuesday, December 3, shortly before 3 p.m. The suspect, James Michael White, 59, is being charged with assault and battery of a public employee. Deputy Police Chief Patty Sherrill said the employee was leaving a sanctioned meeting at the library when the alleged assault occurred.

Police respond to 2 pedestrian accidents

In a span of hours on Friday, December 13, Canton police responded to two pedestrian accidents — one at Washington and Church streets and the other on Randolph Street. In the first incident, reported just after 7:30 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Patty Sherrill said a pedestrian was in the crosswalk when hit. Later that day, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police responded to Randolph Street after an individual riding an e-bike drove into a parked vehicle. Sherrill said neither accident required medical transport.
