Canton police arrest 7-Eleven robbery suspect
By Mike BergerWithin a day of a reported armed robbery at the 7-Eleven store in Canton Center, police arrested a Canton man in connection with the alleged crime.
The incident was reported on Thursday, January 23, at approximately 1:30 a.m. The following day, just before 3 p.m. on January 24, CPD detectives made a warrant arrest and charged Tyrell M. Williams, 35, of 2 Revere Court, with armed robbery, shoplifting by concealing merchandise (third offense), and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Police believe that Williams was the individual who robbed the 7-Eleven at knifepoint last Thursday. According to Deputy Police Chief Patty Sherrill, the clerk was unharmed and the suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash from the register.
After identifying Williams as the suspect, detectives applied for and was granted an arrest warrant from Stoughton District Court, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Sherrill praised the detectives for “great investigative work” in quickly solving the case.
