Luce School alum wins Florida state wrestling crown

By

Former Canton resident and Luce Elementary School alumnus Joseph Tucker was crowned the Florida State Class 2A wrestling champion at the FHSAA State Tournament held last month at Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida.

A senior at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Tucker competed in the 113-pound division and went unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning four straight matches in convincing fashion en route to the title. After opening with a tech fall victory in round one, Tucker advanced to the state quarterfinals where he rolled to a major decision win. He scored another major decision victory in the semifinals and then clinched the title with a 6-0 decision against an opponent that only had two prior losses on the season.

Including his tournament victories, Tucker finished his senior season with an overall record of 47-7.
