Back in 2005, Linda Berman’s fifth grade Girl Scout troop put together time capsules as they said goodbye to elementary school and were about to begin their middle school journey. Berman promised the girls that she would get them back together to open their time capsules around the time they graduated from high school.
Seven years later, six of the seven girls — one has since moved away — reunited over ice cream sundaes and a slideshow from their 2004-2005 Girl Scout year before opening their time capsules, which included items or photographs that were important to them at that time.
There were photos of their families, their bedrooms, friends, and of themselves at special events. One girl had put in a Pop Warner cheerleader pompom; another had put in a brand new Red Sox World Series blanket from the 2004 season.
Most of the girls had forgotten all about the time capsules and were very excited to open them. Much of the contents were about things going on in fifth grade, including events they didn’t even remember happening or papers they didn’t remember writing. The girls all agreed it was a wonderful walk down memory lane and nice to get back together again.
