ICC thanks supporters for successful Irish Festival

By

Dear Editor:

On June 8-10, the Irish Cultural Centre of New England held its 22nd annual Irish Festival in Canton. This year, the weather was spectacular and the centre hosted over 10,000 people for this three-day event. With more than 25 bands playing continuous live music, eight step-dancing groups performing, almost 30 retail and food vendors selling their wares, a dozen authors conducting readings, and numerous professionals providing genealogy consultations, there was something for everyone at the Boston Irish Festival.

The success of this event is due in large part to the great generosity of so many individuals and corporations alike. In particular, I would like to thank IBEW Local 103 for its professionalism and can-do attitude. With safety as their top priority, over 20 union electricians volunteered their time and expertise to make sure that proper power was supplied to all vendors, the 48-acre site was properly lit, and all the bands had the proper set-up. For more than one week leading up to the festival and throughout the weekend, Local 103 provided the electricians to make sure that all tasks were done, last-minute changes were handled, and everything went off without any interruption. We simply couldn’t have done it without the support and professionalism of Local 103.

In addition, a special thank you to our media partners, WROL 950 AM — The Spirit of Boston, the Irish Emigrant, and the Boston Irish Reporter, as well as our sponsors: Guinness, Pepsi, ATS Equipment, American Milling, Maguire Equipment, RaceMenu, and the Boston Irish Tourism Association. Each of our sponsors provided critical support to the centre in making the 2012 Boston Irish Festival a success. I would like to sincerely thank each of them and all those who attended the festival. We hope to see you next year.

Sincerely,

Mary McTigue

Executive Director
