The online home of the Citizen, www.thecantoncitizen.com, features a limited selection of stories and other content but was intended to function primarily as a promotional and informational tool for potential subscribers and advertisers.
The amount of content available online varies from week to week, and although free to use, the site was not designed to serve as a substitute for the newspaper itself. Furthermore, the Citizen has always been a weekly newspaper and intends to remain that way, so in most instances the site is updated every Thursday — the same day that the print edition hits the newsstands. However, the Citizen will gladly relay breaking news and other important updates — such as school closings — as soon as the information becomes available.
