Canton Summer Softball wins Hock championship
By Canton CitizenIn just its second year of existence, the Canton Summer Fast-Pitch Softball program has claimed its first championship. The girls’ 14-and-under team beat North Attleboro to capture the Hockomock East League title, capping off a spectacular season that included nine big wins and just one close loss.
Under the direction of coaches Britta Reissfelder and Martin Devane, 14 talented young ladies combined solid hitting, steady defense, and aggressive base running to dominate the five other teams in their division. Parents and coaches are delighted to see their children’s hard work and determination pay off in the form of a trophy, a title and a lot of great friendships and memories.
The members of the championship 14-U team are: Taylor Carrington, Michaela D’Angelico, Marissa Devane, Sam Devane, Kathryn Doody, Colleen Kelleher, Emily Lanci, Hannah Link, Gabi Matthews, Juliana Nagel, Mary Nee, Lauren Peplau, Colleen Phelan, and Sarah Reissfelder.
Britta, Marty and the girls would like to thank NJ Marathas and Dirt Dawg Sports for their sponsorship. Special thanks also go to Ed Amico, Maureen White, Kathy Phelan, and LaJace Carrington for volunteering their time to make this program a success for all of the families involved.
