Guardione, Salvatore
By Canton CitizenSalvatore Guardione, 55, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, September 18, at Boston Medical Center after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Born in Springfield to Ilda and Frank Guardione, he grew up in Agawam and attended Agawam High School, where he graduated as the salutatorian in 1975. Sal then attended Boston College, where he met his wife and graduated cum laude in 1979. He has been a resident of Canton since 1984, raising two children, who were the center of his life.
He was employed by McDonald’s Corp. as an assistant manager and later as a manager for an independent store owner for whom he ran the two West Roxbury stores. After leaving McDonald’s, he worked for Prudential Life and Buckler, Irwin & Graf, and finally for CAN, where he worked as a worker’s compensation claims adjuster for many years.
Sal will be remembered by his many friends and family as a guy with a quirky sense of humor and his constant practical jokes. He loved life and his family and was a friend to everyone he met.
Beloved husband of Nancy (Stoddard). Father of Francesco S. Guardione and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Brockton, and Vincenzo S. Guardione and his wife, Jennifer, of West Bridgewater. Grandfather of Adrianna F. and Salvatore W. of West Bridgewater. Brother of Carmelina Higa of AZ.
A funeral service was held Saturday morning, September 22, at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society, 5 Erie Dr., Natick, MA 01760.
