In one of the most thrilling finishes in the 56-year history of the Canton Men’s Softball League, the Hannington Club won the playoff championship, beating Halfway Cafe 24-23 in the deciding seventh game. Hanningtons had to come up with seven runs in the last inning (five runs with two outs) to tie the game at 23-23, forcing extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning, Halfway did not score, and Hanningtons pushed across a run in the bottom half of the inning to win 24-23 and take the 2012 Canton softball title.
