MusicCounts! announces return of ‘Cantonstock’

By

MusicCounts! and the Canton Performing Arts Department is proud to announce the return of Cantonstock, Canton’s own music festival, on Sunday, October 21, from 12-4 p.m. at Canton High School.

Cantonstock is the major fundraiser for the Performing Arts Department and Canton’s music booster organization MusicCounts! Thanks to the generosity of MusicCounts!, all after-school music programs were fully funded from 2009 through 2012.

This year, the Canton Public Schools will be funding the after-school music programs, allowing MusicCounts! to expand its mission to become a full-spectrum music booster organization, providing funds for festival registrations and transportation; competition participation fees; the purchase and maintenance of school-owned instruments; private lesson scholarships; concert sheet music; and enrichment opportunities for general music classes for all students in the Canton Public Schools

More than just a fundraiser, Cantonstock is a celebration of music in the Canton Public Schools. There will be performances throughout the day in the high school cafeteria featuring student musicians from grades 4-12 and music teachers from all of the schools.

Doors will open at 12 noon, with band performances to follow at 12:30, strings at 1:30, Jazz at 2:25, and chorus at 2:55.

In addition to enjoying the performances, visit the Music Arcade, win a cake at the Cake Walk, and try your hand at Guitar Mini Golf and the Tambourine Toss. Other activities include face painting, cookie decorating, and a silent auction and raffle.

Join us for a wonderful day of music! For more information, go to www.cantonma.org/pages/CantonPublicSchools/Community/MusicCounts.
