Flavin graduates from Mass. Firefighting Academy
By Mike BergerState Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan and Fire Chief Charles Doody announced the graduation of Firefighter/Paramedic Keith Flavin with the 205th class of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Recruit Firefighting Training Program on December 6.
Flavin and his fellow recruits received classroom training in all basic firefighter skills. They practiced first under non-fire conditions and then during controlled fire conditions. To graduate, students must demonstrate proficiency in life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation, and fire attack operations ranging from mailbox fires to multiple-floor or multiple-room structural fires.
Upon successful completion of the recruit program, all students are certified to the level of Firefighter I and II, and Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational Level by the Massachusetts Fire Training Council, which is accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
Flavin has been assigned to Group 2 and reported for duty on December 16.He is the son of James and Joyce Flavin of Canton.
