CHS hitting improves but team drops three games
By Mike BergerThe CHS baseball team fell to 1-13 last week, as the Bulldogs were defeated by Franklin 9-5, Mansfield 19-9 and Oliver Ames 15-0.
Despite the record, head coach Tom Healy said the team is trying hard. “We are a young team,” he said. “There are lessons to be learned every game. This week our hitting picked up but our pitching was not as good as it should be.”
The Bulldogs played their best game of the week against Franklin. Joey Wilkinson was pitching well but was struck on the hip by a line drive and had to come out of the game. Matt Bernstein came on in relief and pitched well, but on a very windy day, a few outfield flies fell in, which led to a big inning by Franklin.
Except for the Oliver Ames game, Canton had some punch in the lineup last week, led by David Corcoran, Sean Wilson and freshman Drew Blake, who had a few RBIs during the week.
Canton was scheduled to travel to Foxboro on Wednesday, May 12, and will host North Attleboro today (Thursday, May 13) at 3:30 p.m. Canton will play its final home game of the season on Monday, May 17, at home against Stoughton at 3:30 p.m.
