Reader praises leadership of DPW chief
By Canton CitizenDear Editor:
Congratulation to DPW Superintendent Mike Trotta for his leadership as Canton’s representative in the first-of-its-kind regional water conservation campaign by the Neponset River Watershed Association. The association is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to cleaning up and protecting the Neponset River and its watershed.
Of course, Mike is right: “In Canton and towns all across the country, we are facing aging water and sewer infrastructure and the need to invest in repairing our pipes and other equipment.” Mike is providing leadership to tackle this enormous and vital task for Canton.
According to the story in the Citizen on March 27, “The current effort is a pilot project for the regional approach, and the alliance members will be evaluating whether they want to continue joint efforts in the future.” Let’s support Mike’s cooperation with his regional colleagues in this pilot effort.
Future joint efforts will be essential to meet other critical regional needs. These include economic and public policy cooperation, particularly as Canton and surrounding towns become more urbanized by the encroachment of Boston.
