Cravens, William W.
By Canton CitizenWilliam W. Cravens, 56, of Canton, passed away April 28 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Framingham, he was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1976 where he was a star athlete on the football and baseball teams. He went on to attend Cushing Academy and Elon University in North Carolina. He previously worked for Emerson & Cuming, Napoli Wrecking, N.E. Insulation, and most recently worked for the Canton Recreation Department for the last 25 years.
Bill loved the town of Canton and was an avid fan of all the local youth sports teams and a member of the Canton Town Club and the American Legion Post #24. Bill was honored on April 13 of this year when the field at the Dean S. Luce School was named in his honor.
Beloved husband of Rosemarie (McCarthy). Devoted son of the late Mary Frances (Woods) and William C. Cravens. Brother of Edward Cravens and his wife, Joyce, of East Bridgewater, Carol Duggan and her husband, William, of Canton, and Kimberly Piro and her husband, Joseph, of Mansfield. Son-in-law of Patricia C. McCarthy of Canton and the late John T. “Mac” McCarthy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Thursday, May 1, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton Friday at 12 noon. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Recreation Department, 92 Pleasant St., Canton, MA 02021.
