Top 3 seeds early leaders in softball playoffs
By Mike BergerHannington’s, Cincinnati Suds, and Canton Junction, the top three seeds in the Canton Men’s Softball League, each posted wins in the first round of the playoffs, which began last week.
The remaining five playoff teams are, in order, Lewis Bar and Grill, Golden China, OIF/OEF Vets, Finbarr’s, and Centerfield’s.
In playoff action last week, undefeated Hannington’s beat Centerfield’s 15-5, Cincinnati Suds defeated Finbarr’s 14-5, and Canton Junction outlasted OIF/OEF 16-9. The first round of the playoffs should be completed by today, with the second round, consisting of a best-of-five series format, beginning soon.
In the regular season, Bryan Holtzman was the top hotter for Hannington’s with a batting average of .710, followed by Mike Stuart at .658. Jesse Goodrich was the top hitter for Golden China at .778, followed by Greg Lyons at .700. Mike O’Brien led Canton Junction at .500, followed by Ben Camarra at .448.
