Girls hockey tops Falmouth for signature win
By Jay TurnerThe positives greatly outweighed the negatives for the CHS girls ice hockey team last week as the lady Bulldogs punched their ticket to the postseason with a memorable 3-0 win against division foe Falmouth on Wednesday. The girls would go on to lose a close one at Hingham 2-1 on Saturday, but the arrow is certainly pointing up for this year’s squad as they head into the home stretch of the regular season.

Wednesday’s shutout victory at home marked the first time that Canton has beaten the Clippers since joining the vaunted SEMGHL Coastal Division. Falmouth (9-6-1) took the first meeting between the two schools this season with a 2-0 win at Falmouth Ice Arena back on January 9.
The Clippers actually out-shot their hosts in the rematch by a sizable margin, but they could not get one past standout goaltender Colleen Kelleher, who was sensational in the win with 31 saves.
On the offensive end, the Bulldogs won with a balanced attack, scoring once in all three periods on goals by Maggie Malloy, Kendra Farrelly, and Rebecca Eckler. Defenseman Katie Trerice assisted on two of the goals while Malloy, Lauren Fitzpatrick, and Marissa Devane registered one assist apiece.
In the Hingham game, Farrelly had the lone goal for Canton and Kelleher played well in the loss, stopping 35 of the 37 shots she faced.
Now 7-4-6, the Bulldogs were due to visit Medway/Ashland on Wednesday before closing out the regular season with home games on Saturday versus Ursuline and next Thursday versus Walpole.
