Sommer, Robert F.

Robert Frank Sommer, MD, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Hingham on March 14, 2017. He was surrounded by his family during his final weeks of battling pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie (Disco) Sommer, three daughters and their husbands: Susan Sommer and Richard Smith of Hingham, Dianne Sommer and Gerard Spiniello of Canton, and Cheryl Sommer O’Brien and James O’Brien of Marshfield. He leaves his beloved seven grandchildren: Brian Sommer Smith and Rebecca Sommer Smith of Hingham, Cameron Michael O’Brien and Jessica Sommer O’Brien of Marshfield, and Samson Spiniello, Rome Spiniello and Ava Spiniello of Canton. He is also survived by his sister, Sr. Elizabeth Sommer of New Rochelle, NY; his sister-in-law Barbara Dewey Sommer of Delmar, NY; and his brother-in-law Nelson and his wife, Carolyn Disco, of Merrimack, NH. He was predeceased by his brother John F. Sommer, DDS (February 2016) and brother-in-law and his wife, George and Maureen Disco of Amherst, NH. Bob also leaves 11 nieces and nephews …
