Arrest made in 7-Eleven armed robbery case

A 22-year-old Brockton man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at the 7-Eleven store in Canton Center on Monday, October 2, around 4:45 a.m. Police said the suspect, who has been identified as Abilio Andrade, allegedly held a knife to the clerk’s throat while ordering him to empty the cash register. Andrade was arrested by Canton and Brockton detectives and was due to be arraigned in Stoughton District Court today on charges included armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon. In a Facebook post announcing the arrest, Canton police thanked their law enforcement partners in Brockton and West Bridgewater for their assistance in solving the case. They also thanked the public for helping to spread the word on social media.

Shaw’s purse snatching still unsolved

Police are still searching for the suspect in an alleged purse-snatching attempt that occurred last week inside the Shaw’s Supermarket at the Village Shoppes. The incident was reported to police around 4:20 p.m. on Sunday, September 24. A bystander chased down the suspect and was able to retrieve the purse, but the suspect broke free in a wooded area near the high-tension wires adjacent to Shaw’s. Police searched the area with a K9 unit but did not find the suspect. He is described as a white male in his 20s and was wearing a dark blue shirt, baseball hat, and light-colored shorts at the time of the theft. CPD warns of ‘Felony Lane Gang’ activity

CPD Detective Rob Quirk recently reported on the CPD Facebook page about possible “Felony Lane Gang” activity in Canton and the surrounding area. Quirk described the gang as a loose conglomeration of property criminals who break into cars, even if they are locked, and steal purses and other valuables. Quirk reported that on Friday, September 29, a license plate was stolen from a residence on Traceywood Road, and the plate was subsequently attached to a vehicle that was used in the theft of three purses at a park in a neighboring community. Two of those vehicles were locked and the windows were smashed. Also on Friday, September 29, all four tires were taken off of two vehicles in the Canton Center MBTA lot with the vehicles left on blocks of wood. Quirk said it is unknown if the tire thefts are related to the license plate or purse thefts but noted that all occurred in the same timeframe on Friday.
