Galeota, Ellen A.
By Canton CitizenEllen A. (Masuret) Galeota, 76, passed away peacefully at her home on April 23, 2018, following a long and courageous battle with progressive multiple sclerosis (30 plus years).
Ellen was born January 2, 1942, in Boston (West Roxbury) to the late Charles and Anna (Hoban) Masuret. She had two older brothers, C. Leo (deceased) and Donald of Palm Bay, FL.
Beloved wife of 53 years to Ralph Galeota, Sr. Loving mother to Ralph (Ted) Galeota, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Sharon, Christine Brown and her husband, Troy, and Julianne Hall and her husband, John, all of Canton.
Ellen was Nonni to her three beautiful grandchildren, Nicole and Sean Brown, and Kaitlyn Galeota. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Ellen attended Boston Public Schools, then went on to earn an undergraduate and graduate degrees from Boston State College in education. She began her teaching career in the Boston Public Schools and interrupted her career to stay at home to raise her three children. After her children were grown, Ellen returned to teaching, initially in the Canton Public Schools as a reading specialist and then finished her career as a reading specialist in the Brockton Public Schools.
After retiring in 2000, Ellen and Ralph moved from their home in Canton to West Harwich, where they have spent the last 18 years.
The family would like to thank both the VNA of Cape Cod and BAYADA Health Care Services who provided wonderful care to Ellen while at home.
Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, on Thursday, April 26, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish in Canton on Friday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
