Charles W. Garnhum, 87, of Sharon, formerly of Canton, passed away March 31 at home.

Born in Dedham, he was raised in Canton and attended Canton schools. He was a Navy veteran of WWII.

Charles worked as the supervisor of maintenance for the Sharon Housing Authority for many years before retiring; he also worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years with his company, Garnhum & Morganelli. He was a member of the VFW in Sharon and was a former member of the Sharon Special Police Association for many years before retiring in 1983 as a captain.

Beloved husband of Mary E. (Nikituk). Father of Sandra Garnhum-Liu of California and Susan McKinnon and her husband, Kevin, of Foxboro. Grandfather of Stacy McCracken, Erin Terry and Anna Liu. Great grandfather of Kevin Bernard and Emily McCracken. Brother of Marie Cosato of California, Marguerite Garnhum of Canton, and the late George, Daniel, John and Richard Garnhum, Edith Richard and Catherine Giammarco.

Private graveside services for the family will be held at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon, MA 02067. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home in Canton.
