Bacon, Barbara L.

Barbara L. Bacon (Orelup), 83, of Canton died at her home surrounded by her family on October 2, 2018.

Born and raised in Maywood, IL, Barbara attended Maywood Public Schools before attending Coe College in Iowa, earning her degree in education. Barbara spent her summers in Rocky Point, Wisconsin, before moving to Stoneham in the late 1950s and then to Canton in the 1970s where she worked for the Canton Public Schools and raised her family.

Barbara was a longtime member of Wampatuck Country Club in Canton and served on the Women’s Handicap Committee. She also enjoyed knitting and bridge.

Beloved wife of the late John Bacon. She is survived by her children: Mike and his wife, Therese Bacon, of South Easton, Tim Bacon of Canton, and Tom and his wife, Donna Bacon, of New Bedford. Cherished grandmother of Wayne, Melissa, Mark, Christina, Thad, Elias, Nate, Isaiah and Aaron and great-grandmother of Sophia, Zack, Stevie and TC.

Visiting hours in the Dockray and Thomas Funeral, 455 Washington Street, on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton on Tuesday at a time to be announced.
