Harry Hinchliffe, 84, a lifelong resident of Canton, died unexpectedly April 11, 2011. Harry worked as an oil burner technician for the Needham Oil Company for over 25 years until retiring in 1988. He also worked as a crossing guard for the town of Canton at Cedarcrest and Oakdale for 20 years.

Harry was a member of the VFW in Stoughton, the American Legion Beatty Post #24 in Canton, the Canton Town Club, and the Senior Men’s Club in Canton. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local #25.

Beloved husband of Lillian A. Hinchliffe (Schwarz). Devoted father of Donald W. Blatt and his wife, Arlene, of NJ, Dennis W. Blatt and his wife, Patricia, of NV, Thomas W. Blatt and his wife, Mary, of Canton, Linda Beckman of Brockton, and Lorie Wellman and her husband, Michael, of Raynham. Brother of Gladys Knott of Canton. Harry is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours from the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, Friday 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 16, in the United Church of Christ, 1541 Washington Street in Canton at 10 a.m. If desired, donations may be made in Harry’s memory to the Canton Veterans’ Department, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
