Ryan, Stephen J.

Stephen J. Ryan, 54, of Canton, formerly of Belmont, passed away October 10 at Season’s Hospice in Milton surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Boston, he was raised in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School, Bentley University and New England School of Law. He previously worked as the director of government affairs for the Mass Association of Realtors and as CEO of the New England Convenience Store Association before taking the position of CEO of New England Waterworks Association in Holliston three years ago. Steve was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his children.

Beloved husband of Jennifer A. (Cashin). Devoted father of Katherine and Connor Ryan and the late John and Stephen Ryan. Son of Stephen and Doris Ryan of Belmont. Brother of Kathleen Osborne and her husband, David, of Wellesley and Karen Gurian and her husband, Daniel, of Wellesley. Son-in-law of Larry and Kathleen Cashin of Pembroke. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held Monday in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Mass General Hospital Pancreatic Cancer Research, c/o Dr. Aparna Parikh, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
