Kelleher, Michael P.
By Canton CitizenMichael P. Kelleher, 60, of Canton, passed away Monday, February 11.
Born in Brockton, he lived his entire life in the town of Canton, graduating from Canton High School with the Class of 1977 where he met and fell in love with his late wife, Jean (Sicard). The two raised their family in Ponkapoag surrounded by an amazing circle of close friends and family in the area. An avid Boston sports fan, Michael was a great athlete and hockey player in his youth, and an active participant in the Canton Youth Hockey organization, coaching his son, Matthew.
He worked in the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) for many years and was also an avid golfer — often racing to daughter Shauna’s soccer games after a round of 18 on Sunday mornings. There was rarely a game missed in youth, club and college, where he wore his #19 bright red Boston University women’s soccer jacket proudly.
The husband of the late Jean (Sicard) Kelleher, he is survived by daughter Shauna R. and her husband, Peter D. Whooley, of Seattle, and son Matthew D. of Boston. Brother of Joseph Kelleher and his wife, Dottie, of Canton and Terri Strobl and her husband, George, of Nashua, NH. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a granddaughter, Lily.
