Board of Health to host annual Summer Fun & Safety Fair
By Canton CitizenThe Canton Board of Health is pleased to announce the return of the Summer Fun and Safety Fair — and this year’s edition might possibly be the best one yet! There will be many of the regular fun activities that attendees have come to expect plus a few new surprises as well.
Free and open to the public, this year’s fair will be held on Friday evening, May 17, from 4-7 p.m. at Pequitside Farm, located at 79 Pleasant Street.
As always, the Summer Fun and Safety Fair will have exhibits to demonstrate safe and healthy summer activities the whole family can enjoy. This unique family event is put on by the Board of Health in partnership with the Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, DPW, Library and Property Maintenance departments as well as various community organizations.
Exhibitions will include educational presentations related to fire and auto safety, tick removal, bike safety, and water and pool safety. Also included will be demonstrations of sunscreen use, mosquito protection, and Lyme disease prevention. Hay rides will be available as well as temporary air-brushed tattoos, crafts, pony rides, critters for petting, and more.
The winners of the Summer Safety Bookmark contest will be announced, and free bicycle helmets, compliments of the Board of Health and Police Department, will be distributed. (Details will be available at the “door,” but you must arrive early because supplies are limited). Freshly grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, compliments of Canton Parks & Recreation, will also be available for purchase for just $1 each.
And as always, this event is free! So come one and all to Pequitside Farm on Friday, May 17, beginning at 4 p.m. (rain, shine, or sand storms) and enjoy some quality family time while discovering the things you can do to make your summer time a healthy and safe time for all those who matter most to you.
