Five Canton players headed to D1 Super Bowl
By Canton CitizenFive players from Canton are headed to the MIAA Division 1 Super Bowl as members of the south champion Catholic Memorial team. The unbeaten Knights (10-0) will face D1 north winner St. John’s Prep (9-1) at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, December 7.
Pictured above are Canton players Owen McGowan, Brady McGowan, Barrett Pratt, Shawn O’Connor, and Quincy Eutsay. The elder McGowan is the team’s defensive anchor at linebacker and is a candidate for the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year Award. He has verbally committed to play for the Boston College Eagles beginning in the fall of 2021.
Senior Barrett Pratt is the Knights’ two-year starter at quarterback while Eutsay, a junior, is a defensive standout and a key offensive contributor at tight end.
CM, led by legendary coach John DiBiaso, will be looking to avenge a loss in last year’s Super Bowl when they fell to St. John’s Prep 40-22. It promises to be quite a rematch as the two Catholic Conference powers enter the game ranked 1 and 2 in the most recent Boston Globe Top 20 poll.
Congratulations to the Canton players and the rest of their CM teammates on an outstanding season to date.
